Well it’s been a while since this blog was born… frankly, there hasn’t been much that we could write about publically. We’ve been building the site, making decisions, fine tuning, yada yada yada. But we’re just about ready to release the next incarnation of Naperthrill.com! See my last post (yeah, the one from 9 months ago) for a view of what the old Naperthrill looked like.
Today (yesterday, really, since it’s past midnight) is kind of significant because we just finished the first of our in-person site tests. I suckered a couple of unlucky souls into testing all of the major functions of the site; we did crazy stuff like finding pizza joints through the Yellow Pages, posting classified ads, posting videos on NaperTube, and posting events in the Naperville Event Calendar. The testing itself was tedious at times, but it paid off. Our testers opened our eyes to some subtle yet important deficiencies in how the site operates and also made some really good suggestions that are now classified as Super Secret for the time being. We probably don’t need to be so stingy with casual suggestions thrown out by test subjects, but I like to annoy people by making them think I have juicy secrets, plus it makes me feel cool and important.
More tests are scheduled, and once our test phase is complete we’ll go through a (hopefully) short debugging period. After that, we’ll flip the switch and turn on the lights! Prepare to be dazzled.
