Yesterday my brother and I both went to Naperville to photograph the splendor of Ribfest (and Naperville in general) for our homepage, but the irony is that we never saw each other! We were planning to go together but I got held up because I needed to get some cards printed with our logo plus I also realized that I had to buy a new camera because my old one crapped out on me after five years of abuse.
As it turns out, I spent most of my time running around downtown Naperville taking pictures of complete strangers who seemed more interested in avoiding the mob at Knoch Park than being part of it, so even if we’d gone together it really wouldn’t have mattered. I found plenty of folks camped out at Features, The Lantern, Jimmy’s, and other spots and, surprisingly, just about everyone was willing to sit still for my camera… I was really expecting more people to tell me to go to hell! It probably helped that most of the people I approached had a drink or three in them.
Less surprising was the overall positive reaction to my Naperthrill elevator pitch. I suspected people would be into it - you don’t spend years building something because you think people will hate it - but some affirmation never hurts.
We’re really close to being ready for the soft launch… the only major thing left is overhauling the Naperville Restaurant Guide. Brace yourselves, this is gonna be huuuuuuuuge.
